Conservation at Our Core
With World Conservation Day celebrated today, July 28, it’s the perfect time to reflect on how our everyday actions contribute to a greener planet. At Kiwinet, sustainability isn’t just a policy, it’s at the heart of how we operate.
As an environmentally conscious company, we are committed to protecting our planet through a zero-waste-to-landfill approach. From the very beginning, we’ve focused on minimising waste. We reuse all plastic from inbound netting and fabric rolls, repurpose selvedges to bind our packaged nets, and upcycle off-cuts into products like food nets, jug covers, and washing bags.
Each Kiwinet order also includes one of our signature POP (Protecting Our Planet) bags – reusable, practical, and a small but meaningful contribution to reducing waste.
And because sustainability should uplift people too, we were proud to have recently donated a large batch of mosquito net offcuts to Taking Care of Business (www.tcb.org.za), an organisation helping unemployed individuals with entrepreneurial ambitions. TCB provides holistic enterprise development programs where participants learn to repurpose these offcuts into products they can sell for profit. It’s a powerful example of how repurposing waste can create new opportunities and serve a greater good.
In our production process, we prioritise sustainability by producing to order. This helps avoid overproduction and reduces unnecessary consumption. It’s our way of committing to thoughtful, conscious production.
